Call for Papers

This is the fourth HAAL Conference (previously called Research Forum) for researchers and teachers in the area of applied linguistics. The conference provides an opportunity for them to report on research, explore ideas, update themselves on current developments and, in general, share their professional interests with others in a friendly and informal atmosphere.

Our keynote speaker is Dr Angel Lin of the University of Hong Kong, a scholar with an international reputation in innovative interdisciplinary approaches to second language education and language teaching methodologies.

Dr Lixun Wang of the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Dr John Milton of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Dr Carmen Lee of the Chinese University of Hong Kong will participate in a panel discussion entitled “ Technology in language learning and teaching ” .

We are looking for contributions that relate to both quantitative and qualitative research in applied linguistics. Postgraduate students who are nearing the completion of their theses are particularly welcome to submit proposals.

Proposals for papers (20 minutes + 5 mins for Q&A) should reach the organisers not later than 31 March 2011.

Please note that each presenter is limited to one individual presentation OR one joint presentation.

The deadline for receipt of proposals has been extended to 7 April 2011.

Please download the Proposal Form here.
